Taihan Cable & Solution said Thursday it has secured a high-voltage power grid project in the US, signing a 120 billion won ($89 million) cable supply contract as electricity demand surges amid the expansion of artificial intelligence data centers.

Under the deal, Taihan's US subsidiary T.E.USA will handle engineering and construction, while the Korean parent will manufacture and supply high-voltage cables and related equipment.

The 120 billion won contract covers materials supplied by Taihan to its subsidiary, rather than the value of the entire project. The company did not disclose the total project value or the client's identity, citing confidentiality agreements.

The latest deal follows a high-voltage turnkey project worth about 100 billion won secured in January, strengthening Taihan's presence in the US transmission infrastructure market.

According to the company, it has won every 500-kilovolt high-voltage alternating-current underground transmission project tendered in the US. It has also secured a contract to supply 320-kV high-voltage direct-current cables.

US utilities are stepping up investment in transmission networks as rising electricity consumption from AI data centers and other industries puts pressure on aging power infrastructure.

Taihan plans to pursue additional high-value contracts, particularly in high-voltage direct-current transmission and submarine cables, while expanding its engineering and construction capabilities in the US.

"As large turnkey projects become increasingly important in the US power grid market, this contract will help us broaden our business opportunities," a Taihan official said.
